Deepen your Faith through Education for Ministry

“(Education for Ministry – EfM) helped to make the diocese as a whole feel more like a community to me,” says Brother Ronan, a member of the Church of Nativity now exploring the monastic life as a postulant in the Companions of St. Luke, OSB. “The foundations that were laid in EfM have provided a solid jumping off point for my formation.”

Education for Ministry offers a small group context in which participants can deepen their faith through study of the Bible, church history, and theological reflection. In its fullness, EfM is a four-year program, but participants can commit to one year at a time. There are multiple in-person and hybrid offerings of EfM in the Diocese of Indianapolis. In addition to serving as diocesan coordinator for the program, Canon Mariann Scott has been an EfM small group mentor for 13 years.

Judy Noggle, now a member of Grace Church, Muncie, reflects on her own experience of EfM: “Even though I had read the Bible, I did not have the tools to analyze what I was reading. With Mariann’s guidance, we shared our thoughts and interpretations of our readings.  We were a compatible and supportive group of seekers on our individual spiritual paths.  Our group was cohesive and compassionate throughout four years of many life’s happenings.”
