The 183rd Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis will take place virtually on Saturday, November 7. More information about the online gathering including schedule and registration details will be available in the coming months.
If you are a delegate and unable to attend convention, it is your responsibility to notify the diocesan office of the change.
Pre-Convention Neighborhood Meetings
Canon 9, Section 3 and 4, specifies that each neighborhood will meet prior to convention. At this year’s convention, we will consider a canonical amendment that will finalize the reorganization of the diocese into neighborhoods, rather than deaneries. In keeping with that proposal, our pre-convention meetings will be held by neighborhood and will include all clergy, wardens, delegates and alternates.
Dates of virtual neighborhood meetings are as follows:
- September 22 at 7 p.m. EDT — Crossroads
- September 29 at 7 p.m. EDT — The Edge
- October 4 at 3 p.m. EDT– Wabash
- October 6 at 6 p.m. CDT/7 p.m. EDT– Confluence
- October 11 at 3 p.m. EDT — Waycross
- October 13 at 7 p.m. — Riverbend
The gatherings will include:
- Discussion of the draft 2021 program and budget approved by the Executive Council on September 19
- Introduction of nominees for diocesan elections
- Proposed resolutions and changes to the constitution and canons
- Other business that the neighborhood co-conveners may include for discussion or action.

Online Participation and Voting
All 2020 convention business and voting will be conducted electronically via Zoom, requiring a smart phone, tablet or computer with an internet connection. To participate via Zoom your device must meet these system requirements.
All clergy and lay delegates are required to participate in a virtual training in advance of convention. Training dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
Those who anticipate connectivity or technological challenges that might make it difficult to participate in convention from home are asked to email email@example.com.
General attendees and visitors will have the option to listen to convention by phone. Phone participation does not allow for voice or vote.
Constitution & Canons Changes

We are seeking to develop broad and diverse leadership from across the Diocese of Indianapolis. Please ask people whom you think may have the gifts to serve well in one of these roles to consider putting their names forward or allowing someone else to nominate them. Pray about whether you might be called to serve in this way. Contact Kim Christopher with any questions about the process for nomination at the diocesan level.
Submit a nomination for a diocesan leadership role to be considered at convention. Deadline: October 16
