By: Jackson Chamberlain, IndyDio Pride Coordinator

What a day June 13th was – a day full of joy, pride, and celebrating the diversity of our human family.
It was an honor to work as the Pride Coordinator for IndyDio’s presence this year at Indy Pride. I want to thank everyone who showed up at Indy Pride this year to be part of the IndyDio contingent. You added to the color, to the beauty, to the extravagance of celebrating the diversity of humanity so evident in our LGBTQIA+ community. Whether you are an ally or a member of this community, your presence at Pride matters, is appreciated, and is very much needed. Thank you for promoting the message of “love your neighbor, no exceptions,” the tagline for IndyDio’s presence at Indy Pride 2026.
While Indy Pride 2026, has come to an end, the work of celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community has not. The work of celebrating Pride is significant, holy work done by congregations all across the Diocese of Indianapolis at Prides throughout the state. I want to therefore thank the congregations that are part of this expansive reach of promoting the love of God to our LGBTQIA+ siblings across the state, from Muncie to Southwest Indiana, and everywhere in between. – The work you do in sharing the expansive and inclusive love of God matters.
I’d like to end this reflection with a prayer that I authored for the Indy Pride pre-parade liturgy. Please feel free to share it and use it as you please:
“God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, we thank you for the marvelous diversity of your handiwork, for you created the dawn and the dusk, the sunshine and the rain, and everything in between. We thank you for the diversity of your creation. To you we praise, as we gather with gladness celebrating the creation of your diversity in humanity, evident through our beloved LGBTQIA+ siblings everywhere; Open the hearts, Lord, of all humanity so that we may collectively come to celebrate the diversity you have made in your image, for we are all made in the image of God. We are all imago dei, Amen
