Beloved
Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
This is the truth of the story that animates our faith: Christ is risen, and evil does not win. The empty tomb is the sign of God’s promises, kept. Easter, the day and the season, is our sign that the cross and death are not the end. Ever. This Eastertide and beyond, I invite you to find the words, language, and actions to tell this story your way.
We live in a time of complex challenges which provides so many opportunities to testify to our hope. I find my hope in the risen Christ and in you—the body of Christ. You, beloved, are beautiful constellations of people who have opened your hearts to allow God’s slow work of transformation to take hold.
You, beloved, are courageous in learning over and over again that we are not defined by suffering; we are not defined by the worst thing or the best thing we’ve done. We are defined by love that never gives up; that never lets go. We look to the empty tomb and the empty cross as signs of love that cannot be diminished or defeated not even by death. We need one another to learn over and over again how to love as God loves, as we lean in the Godward direction allowing God to lovingly pull us into the light.
‘This is my story; this is my song’ as the old hymn goes. I pray that; however life is for you right now, you will find a little more hope, peace, and joy as you tell your story and sing your song this Easter. May you know God’s extravagant love in the resurrected Christ now and always.

¡Aleluya! ¡Cristo ha Resucitado!
Ésta es la verdad de la historia que anima nuestra fe: Cristo ha resucitado, y el mal no vence. La tumba vacía es el señal del cumplimiento de las promesas de Dios. La Pascua, el día y la estación, es nuestra señal de que la cruz y la muerte no son el final. Por siempre. En este tiempo Pascual, les invito a que encuentren las palabras, el lenguaje y las acciones para contar esta historia a su manera.
Vivimos en una época de desafíos complejos que ofrece tantas oportunidades para dar testimonio de nuestra esperanza. Yo encuentro mi esperanza en Cristo resucitado y en ustedes, el cuerpo de Cristo. Ustedes, amados, son hermosas constelaciones de personas que han abierto sus corazones para permitir que la lenta obra de transformación de Dios se afiance.
Ustedes, amados, son valientes al aprender una y otra vez que no nos define el sufrimiento; no nos define lo peor o lo mejor que hayamos hecho. Nos define el amor que nunca se rinde, que nunca nos abandona. Miramos la tumba y la cruz vacías como signos del amor que no puede ser disminuido o derrotado ni siquiera por la muerte. Nos necesitamos unos a otros para aprender una y otra vez a amar como Dios ama, mientras nos inclinamos en la dirección de Dios permitiendo que Dios nos lleve amorosamente hacia la luz.
‘Esta es mi historia; esta es mi canción’, como dice el antiguo himno. Oro para que, independientemente de cómo sea la vida para usted en este momento, encuentre un poco más de esperanza, paz y alegría al contar su historia y cante su canción esta Pascua. Que conozca el amor extravagante de Dios en Cristo resucitado, ahora y por siempre,
