Dear Ones,
Usually I write to you with news, but today I am writing with a reminder.
Our church and our diocese are deeply committed to protecting all clergy, members and visitors from sexual harassment or abuse of any kind. We have specific procedures in place to hold clergy accountable under the Title IV canons of the Episcopal Church, but we are equally committed to deal with abuse or harassment committed by church staff or by lay members.
Our commitment extends not only to those of you who who may be struggling with recent trauma or aggression, but also to those who may have been harassed or abused at a time in their lives, or in the life of our church, when reporting such abuse seemed impossible. To put it more directly: There is no statute of limitations on my concern for you.
Our church took some significant steps in dealing with issues of sexual abuse and harassment at its 2018 General Convention, but much work remains to be done, and I was heartened to learn last week that Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and the Rev. Gay Clark Jennings, president of the House of Deputies, have created for the 2022 General Convention the first legislative committee focused exclusively on issues of sexual harassment and exploitation.
Even as this legislative work gets underway, however, my staff and I remain committed to dealing with issues of sexual abuse and harassment in our diocese right here and right now. Please know that if you have experienced harassment or abuse as you participated in the life of our diocese–whether by a member of the clergy or a member of a church’s staff or congregation–we want to hear from you. If you would like to have a confidential conversation about these issues, please email our intake officer, the Rev. Suzanne Wille at rector@allsaintsindy.org.
I extend this invitation especially to those who, up to this point, have not felt ready to share their experience, or who felt that the church was not ready to hear them. I promise that we will hear you, and we will do everything we can to help.

Queridos Hermanos,
Por lo general, les escribo con noticias, pero hoy escribo con un recordatorio.
Nuestra iglesia y nuestra diócesis están profundamente comprometidas a proteger a todos los clérigos, miembros y visitantes del acoso sexual o abuso de cualquier tipo. Tenemos procedimientos específicos en marcha para pedir cuentas al clérigo bajo los cánones del Título IV de la Iglesia Episcopal, pero también estamos comprometidos con tratar abuso o acoso cometidos por personal de la iglesia o miembros laicos.
Nuestro compromiso se extiende no solo a los de ustedes que actualmente puedan estar luchando con trauma o agresión, pero también a aquellos que puedan haber sido acosados o abusados en un momento en sus vidas, o en la vida de nuestra iglesia, cuando el informar tal abuso parecía imposible. Para decirlo más directamente: No hay ningún estatuto de limitaciones en mi preocupación por ustedes.

Gay Clark Jennings, presidente de la Cámara de Diputados, han creado para la Convención General de 2022 el primer comité legislativo centrado exclusivamente en asuntos del acoso y explotación sexual.
Aun cuando este trabajo legislativo se pone en marcha, de todas maneras, mi personal y yo seguimos comprometidos con tratar asuntos del abuso y acoso sexual en nuestra diócesis aquí mismo y ahora mismo. Sepan que si han sufrido acoso o abuso mientras participaban en la vida de nuestra diócesis–ya sea por un miembro del clérigo o un miembro del personal de una iglesia o congregación–queremos oír de ustedes.
