Family and Children Programming at the 2018 Diocesan Convention

This year your diocesan staff and planning team want to make convention a fun learning experience and time for fellowship for all Episcopalians and all ages! Check out what is being planned so you can register to join the fun. If you cannot make it to the entire convention, and only for part of the weekend’s events, that’s fine too! Please email Erinna Vandever to register!

Thursday night: Family Friendly Social Hour 7:30-9:30pm
Join us at the Marriott Hotel hospitality room after dinner from 7:30-9:30pm. We will watch a family friendly movie, play board games (for all ages), roast s’mores around the fire on the outdoor patio, and simply enjoy some time for fellowship.

Friday: Children’s Programming for ages 3 and up!
From 10am-noon & 1:15-3:15pm: Children ages 3 and up are invited to join their age group and instructor for some fun Bible focused learning activities, crafts, music and even Godly Play time. Youth will be in their own group having conversations about race, gender and inclusion. They will also be invited to participate in some parts of the convention meeting.

All children and youth will be led by children’s youth formation leaders from around the diocese: Amy Formo (St. Timothy’s), Barbie Russell (Good Samaritan) and Missy Roetter (Trinity Indy).

Friday at 3:30: Families with children, delegates and all visitors at convention will be led into the Bloomington area for “Finding God in Your Neighborhood” activities and discussions inspired by our plenary speaker at convention, Dwight Zscheile.

Friday Night: 6:30 Great Food + Music and Dancing = Party Time for all!
Join us Friday night for a delicious meal with all those coming to convention. Children are invited to join as well, where there will be kid-friendly food options as well as dancing for all ages! Children with their parents will also have access to the children’s programming room next-door to play games and take a break from the dinner festivities as needed.

Saturday 9am-11am: More Children and Youth programming before our celebratory Eucharist at 11am. All are welcome to join, even if you aren’t able to join until now.

We hope you will feel comfortable bringing your families to convention. We are making every effort to make convention something fun for all ages and all people, lay and ordained, delegates and non-delegates. This is a unique opportunity to come together with your fellow Episcopalians across the diocese to learn about what’s happening in our corner of the Episcopal family and enjoy time for learning and fellowship.
