Spiritual Nurture

While worship in community forms the heart of our spiritual lives, practices of prayer, study, service, and giving round out a life of discipleship. The resources presented here offer practical ways to deepen your faith through practicing it at home and developing a rhythm of prayer and rule of life. This list is by no means exhaustive, but it offers ways to explore possibilities for taking a next step in your spiritual growth.

Developing Faith at Home

Grow Christians is an online community of discipleship focused on the practical details of life at home. Gathering reflections, stories, images and recipes from diverse Episcopalians, this group blog inspires generations to come together as they celebrate the presence of God through the Christian year.

Daily Inspiration

Forward Day by Day offers meditations on scripture and prayer resources for every day of the year.

A Rhythm of Prayer

From the founding of the Church of England, daily morning and evening prayer, also known as the Daily Office, have formed the heart of Anglican spirituality. Participating in the Daily Office, you join your voice with others around the world in a two-year cycle of scripture and ancient and modern prayers.

IndyDio Virtual Abbey allows you to join others across the diocese for Morning Prayer and Compline offered live on Facebook. Officiants from throughout the diocese offer Morning Prayer Monday – Saturday at 8 a.m. and Compline at 8 p.m. every evening. Morning Prayer in Spanish is offered on Monday & Friday at 8:30 a.m. All times are Eastern time.

Dailyoffice.org is an online community offering daily prayer through text and video.

St. Bede Breviary helps you tailor the Daily Office to your own personal spirituality while retaining the common core of readings and prayers.

Developing a Rule of Life

Society of St. John The Evangelist: Monastic Wisdom for Everyday Living

The monastic tradition can be a vibrant, vital witness to the Church today, one that invites all Christians to know and love God more fully. For this reason, SSJE offers practical guidance in ancient practices, prayer, and spirituality, to help – and hopefully inspire – any and all who desire a more authentic life and a deeper knowledge of God.

Communities of Discipleship

The Restoration Project provides tools for small groups to encourage one another in the core Christian Disciplines of prayer, worship, service, giving, learning, listening, and presence with one another.
