The United Bishops Against Gun Violence have requested high school youth presence at Convention to learn about gun violence and activism work, as well as experience the election of the Presiding Bishop. This trip is limited to 10 youth, and only costs $60.

All current 7th through 12th graders are invited on our annual Diocesan Youth Mission Trip to Philadelphia, PA July 7th-14th, 2024. Participants will work with St. James School, a vibrant Episcopal school, worshipping community, and neighborhood hub in North Philly. We will stay in the Episcopal Mission Center of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Service activities will be a mix of social and physical, with opportunities to experience the rich culture of Philadelphia. The trip costs $600 for youth, and is free for adults attending as chaperones. Spots are limited, and the last day to register is May 1st, 2024. Any questions can be directed to Heather Kenison, Diocesan Youth Minister, heather@indydio.org.

Youth who will be in 9th-12th grade in the 2024-2025 Academic School year are invited to be a part of our pilot Diocesan Youth Confirmation Program. Because this is our pilot program, participation from the youth is required at all sessions, consisting of a one-day retreat and six virtual sessions. The youth may be allowed to miss one session, but will be required to make it up.

In the future, we will add more options for youth to participate in Diocesan Confirmation, but have made the opportunity more targeted this year to gauge effectiveness of the program.

SAVE THE DATE! Our Fall Retreat is making a comeback to Waycross Camps. More information coming soon.

Diocesan Youth Ministry Five-Year Vision

Youth Ministry Vision Summit Participants

In late October, 40+ people from across the diocese, consisting of youth, youth leaders, clergy, and lay leaders met to determine the mission and five-year vision for Diocesan Youth Ministry. This vision summit culminated over a year of research, listening sessions, and censuses collected by the Youth Ministry Renovation Team.

At Convention we announced our Diocesan Youth Ministry Vision, including a mission statement, values, and goals around Youth Faith Formation, Youth Confirmation, Youth Organization Partnerships, Youth Leader Formation, Youth Ministry Investment, and the Christian Parenting & Caregiving Lilly Grant.
