Christ Church Cathedral Mourns Loss of Aaron Bailey

The Christ Church Cathedral family and many in the city of Indianapolis are mourning the death of Aaron Bailey, shot and killed by IMPD officers after fleeing a traffic stop. He was unarmed. Aaron’s criminal history has been shared widely. Yet, Aaron was more than his record. He is a beloved child of God. He was a member of a community of recovery. He was a runner. He was a father and a friend. And to Christ Church Cathedral he was a neighbor, a guest, and a volunteer.

Aaron volunteered all day at the Strawberry Festival this year. He attended the cathedral’s Sunday breakfast for several months. He ran with members in the group, Back on My Feet. Many people mourn his death and are deeply troubled that another unarmed black man has been shot—this time in Indianapolis.

Please join the cathedral and the city of Indianapolis in continuing to pray for his family and the whole community.

May Aaron’s soul, and the souls of all the departed rest in peace. #AaronBailey.

Coro Latinoamericano is recruiting!

Our Coro Latino, at Christ Church Cathedral, is recruiting volunteer singers to sing in the 1 pm Santa Misa en Español. You do not need to be totally fluent in Spanish. However, you must commit to rehearsing every Thursday evening from 6:30-8 pm, and Sundays from 12 to 1 pm (right before mass).

As a member of our Coro Latino you will: receive free vocal and musical instruction from Yuri Rodriguez, enhance your Spanish skills, have access to our nursery during practice hours, acquire cultural competence, make friends from different countries, enjoy free dinner, and have lots of fun. All ages are encouraged to audition. To get an audition, please email Yuri Rodriguez at
