SUMMARY:Preaching Among Friends - Online Lay Preaching Workshop
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW \nPreaching Among Friends is a six-week online workshop for lay preachers\, suitable for beginners and for experienced preachers looking to hone their craft. This course addresses the unique positions of lay preachers by offering the chance to claim their voice to preach\, craft relevant sermons they believe with one clear message of Good News\, and apply a sustainable practice that respects the limited amount of time they may have for sermon prep. The course will meet one evening each week for 75 minutes in the early evening for the first five weeks. There will be an average of two hours of homework per week. In the sixth week\, the class will meet nightly as preachers draft their sermons in real time. Please indicate your preferred weeknight when you register – the exact schedule will be determined based on registrant feedback. \nThe cost of the course is $250. $200 will be refunded to you upon successful completion of the course. DESCRIPTION:God calls ALL believers to ministry. How can we grow closer to God such that we can hear that call? And once we’ve heard it\, how do we say “YES!” \nIn this day long retreat\, we will practice skills for hearing God’s call through various personal practices\, and information will be shared on how to enter into formal discernment if you think you may be called to ordained ministry. \nThis event is designed for all believers – those who are contemplating becoming deacons and priests as well as those seeking to deepen their spiritual response to their lay call. \nRegistration is required\, and a link to register will be posted closer to the event. The cost to participate will be $15 to cover the cost of lunch that day. Financial assistance is available if needed – please contact Jen Phelps for more information.

DESCRIPTION:The 186th Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church\, Indianapolis on November 10-11\, 2023. \nEvents on Friday will begin with a noon book signing with this year’s keynote speaker\, Cole Arthur Riley\, before her workshop at 1:00 p.m. EDT. \nIf you are only interested in attending Cole Arthur Riley’s workshop at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Friday\, you can register for free by selecting the ‘Speaker Cole Arthur Riley Only’ registration option. This will not include any meals\, workshops\, or programming\, though participation in the book signing earlier that day is welcome. \nAdditional workshops will be offered through Friday afternoon\, followed by a sung Evening Prayer service at 5:15 p.m. EDT and dinner at 6:30 p.m. EDT. \nSaturday’s schedule will begin with a continental breakfast at 8:00 a.m.\, EDT followed by the opening prayer for the day’s business meetings at 9:00 a.m. EDT.
