Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEV)

Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEVs) extend the hospitality of the Sunday Eucharist to those who, because of illness or other limitations, are unable to be present for community worship. LEVs are invited to serve in this ministry by their clergy or in the absence of clergy, by the person responsible for pastoral oversight in the congregation.  If you feel called to serve as an LEV, contact your clergy or person charged with pastoral oversight, to let them know of your interest.

LEVs are licensed by the bishop and work under the direction of their parish clergy.  You must be a confirmed communicant in good standing to apply to be an LEV.

Once you have been approved to serve in this ministry by your clergy,  sign up for a virtual training offered by the Diocese.

Upcoming trainings are listed in the diocesan newsletter as well as the diocesan calendar. The 2024 LEV Trainings will be offered on Zoom on the following dates; click the links below to register and receive Zoom log-in information.

In addition to the 2 hour virtual training, LEV applicants must:

  • Complete the Application form found here
  • Complete eight required Safe Church Training modules available on Praesidium Academy
    • Intro & Theological Background
    • Org. Rules & Policies

    • Duty to Report: Mandated Reporter
  • Reach out to their parish’s Safe Church administrator to initiate and complete a Premium Background Check through Praesidium Academy

LEV licenses are issued for a 3-year period and are renewable with participation in the online training and renewal of all Safe Church requirements.
