St. Richard's is seeking a part-time (approximately 15 hours per week) Early Childhood Chaplain for the 2015-2016 academic year. The program is taught nearly all day on Wednesday with a few additional hours on Thursday and Friday. The goal of the position is to work with the school chaplain and head of lower division and early childhood to design and implement a chapel program and teach Godly Play lessons for Pre-K, junior kindergarten, and kindergarten students.  Know someone who would fit? Let St. Richard's know! Applications will be received until July 17.   To apply, submit a letter of interest and a current resume to Mrs. Cynthia Mallinger, Head of Lower Division and Early Childhood, St. Richard's Episcopal School, 33 E. 33rd St., Indianapolis, IN 46205.

MARRIAGE: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
That is the title and topic of a public forum that Trinity, Bloomington, will host for the community of Bloomington and the Diocese of Indianapolis on Saturday, August 22, 9 a.m. - noon.  The forum is free and supported by a grant from the Trinity endowment.

Don Reed, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Philosophy at Wittenberg College in Springfield, Ohio, will be the keynote speaker. He will address cultural trends and shifts in the understanding of marriage; the Supreme Court decision on same-gender marriage; and denominational decisions such as the proposed changes in the canon law of The Episcopal Church regarding marriage.  Dr. Reed is a member of the Special Legislative Committee on Marriage of The General Convention and will be hearing testimony regarding resolutions to change laws and liturgy of The Episcopal Church.

The morning will include opportunity for small group discussion and time for questions and answers.

The springboard for the forum is the pamphlet "Dearly Beloved. . . a Toolkit for the Study of Marriage" published by The Episcopal Church.

Questions? Please contact The Rev. Henrietta Grossoehme, 513-675-3201.

THE RESTORATION PROJECT: BASICS WORKSHOP ADULT EDUCATION TO FORM MATURE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS
At our diocesan clergy conference in April, we were introduced to The Restoration Project (TRP).  This August 25 -27, the Rev. Suzanne Wille, Rector of All Saints, Indianapolis, and member of the TRP leadership team, will offer a workshop on teaching The Basics Classes: Basic Anglicanism, Basic Bible, Basic Christianity, and Basic Discipleship.  The workshop will be held at The Episcopal Church of All Saints, Indianapolis.  Cost: $130.

At churches throughout the country, the Basics Classes have been used to form inquirers, new Christians, and the lifelong faithful who are looking for "more." Basics Classes can stand alone for adult formation or be part of the larger TRP approach and have been used in parishes to help move churches from acting as service providers to creating communities of active disciples.

  • During our time together, we'll share:
  • How and why to do this work
  • Why there are no gimmicks, only the slow work of long-term commitment
  • The core curriculum for the Basics classes
  • Time creating your own curricula to fit your church
  • Big picture information about The Restoration Project

Interested? Read more information in this flier and/or contact the Rev. Suzanne Wille at 317-635-2538 or rector(at)allsaintsindy.org.
